Joan Reede, M.D.Dr. Reede became the first Dean for Diversity and Community Partnership for Harvard Medical School in 2002. Over the last 24 years, she founded and developed 16 programs to address pipeline and leadership issues for minorities and women in the fields of medicine and academic and scientific research. Currently, she is the principal investigator of a project examining career advancement and success of women of color in academic medicine. In addition, she was a founder of the Biomedical Science Careers Program (BSCP), a community-based organization that supports mentoring for minority students, trainees, and professionals pursuing biomedical careers. She is the founder and director of the Commonwealth Fund/Harvard University Fellowship in Minority Health Policy and has served on several national committees, including the Health and Human Services Advisory Committee on Minority Health and the Secretary's Advisory Committee on Genetics, Health, and Society. |
