Barbara J. Guthrie

Barbara J. Guthrie, R.N., Ph.D.

Dr. Guthrie’s work addresses how communities affect abusive or unhealthy behaviors. With specific areas of interest in gender and ethnicity, she has examined the ways that groups of adolescent girls initiate others into substance-abuse or sexually-related behaviors, and she has used this information to try to reverse the process through peer-led STD-prevention programs.
